While Arctic Tern rests quietly in Newfoundland, getting ready for another busy season, her reputation and stories will be featured in the Nation’s Capital!
This year will be the 36th edition of Winterlude, Ottawa/Gatineau’s world famous festival of everything fun about a Canadian winter. For three fun-filled weeks from January 31 to February 17, 2014 locals and visitors will skate on the world’s largest skating rink, check out the ice sculpture competitions, and play at North America’s largest snow playground. You can learn more about Winterlude here.
This year, the Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN) will participate in Winterlude. And, we’re thrilled to announce, CMN’s program called Research and Education will feature Arctic Tern!
At the Museum itself there will be Arctic-themed exhibits including a short film about Arctic Tern and her expeditions. And of course, since Winterlude celebrates the great outdoors, there will be Museum displays at the festival grounds at Confederation Park. There Arctic Tern will be featured along with her partners from the 2013 expedition: Students on Ice, Canadian Museum of Nature, WWF Canada, Canadian Wildlife Service / Environment Canada, Parks Canada, and Canada Goose Inc.
